Southern Italy
Amalfi Coast
Vertical villages, impossibly blue water, and roads that require courage.
The Amalfi Coast is a place where geography becomes experience. The towns are built into cliff faces. The roads curve above open water. The light arrives at angles that seem mathematically improbable. Every journey here is shaped by the terrain itself, which is partly why it has never lost its power over travelers.
The Amalfi Coast rewards those who resist the urge to rush through it. Its pleasures reveal themselves when you stay long enough for the light to change across the water, long enough to watch the fishing boats return at dusk, long enough to understand why people have chosen to build lives on these terraces for a thousand years.

From the field
“Lemon trees growing above a path that ends at the water.”
“The sound a fishing boat makes leaving the harbor before it is fully light.”
